Story

It had been many years since she’d visited her aunt, in the countryside. The last time they’d met was during her vacations, she was all but a young girl of six. She couldn’t recall much from that trip, except that the strawberry shortcake her aunt had baked for her. If she closed her eyes, she could still taste the tart-sweet rush of flavours, the crumbly shortcrust pastry and the generous dollop of cream. It felt as though she was savouring the best of summer with every spoonful. And, twenty years later, her heart still raced at the memory and it was still the best part of visiting her favourite aunt.

Travel back in time to a special person and a special place, when you wear this frothy pink kurta that’s paired with off-white bottoms. The kurta is made of handloom Jamdani cotton, while the bottoms are made of cotton. This set includes an under-layer with frills, which adds extra pizzazz to the look.

Jamdani is also referred to as extra-weft ornamentation, on-loom embroidery, or discontinuous weft. The patterns are developed on graph paper and fastened under the warp. A weaver then painstakingly works the on-loom embroidery using needles or extra weft shuttles, creating each motif individually. Jamdani fabrics feel delicate and opulent while also being light, comfortable and very fashion-forward.
